I recently created the below chart to determine what my training baseline looks like as I start up The Revolution and thought I’d share.

Race mileage of 985 through August compares to 1,064 miles for all of 2025 and is about 2x prior years annual totals.
  • Overall, I average about 3 hours per day, which . . . yikes that’s a lot!
  • Obviously not all minutes are created equal. I would rank the intensity (highest to lowest) as Strength -> Training Miles -> Race -> Walking.
    • I’m not necessarily interested in going down another level, but my training intensity is definitely increasing as I add weekly workouts.
  • I decided to split out my race time from my daily runs and holy crap do I race a lot of miles (21st in US per DUV). LOL.
    • My pair of journey runs YTD obviously skew this higher (193 hours = 48 minutes/day).
    • I should average about 25 hours/month through year end.
    • Then about 16 hours/month next year leading into LAVS assuming I hit 48 yards at Capital BYU.
  • I manage to be much more consistent with my walking than run training as I don’t cut back mileage nearly as much around races.
  • I’m pretty consistent most months at running and walking an hour per day each.
  • March gave me the confidence that I can spike my hours dramatically if I’m motivated to do so.
    • 4 hours per day would be my max though and would require cutting back on a lot of other things. Doable in spurts, but likely not sustainable for 6 months.
  • Training time is not something I’m focused on right now outside of strength. Looking to dramatically increase this through December then maintain as I build running volume in 2027.
