I developed a little niggle in my right knee earlier this week. I thought it would be a good idea to write up how I deal with injury prevention. How I approach it, things I look out for, and my rules of thumb for avoiding injuries. I had the whole thing planned out in my head and had even started drafting it. Then I wondered if writing the post would jinx myself.
Now, I’m not a superstitious person. . .
You’ll see me wearing the same Oil Creek shirt in just about every race photo on this blog. This is not my lucky shirt because it was my first buckle. I just like the safety color (orange) and the texture of the material.
I don’t eat a TastyKlair before every race because it guarantees me a strong performance. I challenge you to find a better tasting 380 calories to jump start your nutrition. I mean, it’s in the name!
I don’t carry TP in a plastic bag on every single run I do to ward off the emergency duck into the bushes. This is insurance for the occasion every 3 or 4 years that I need it.
I don’t hide my double secret AAA race goals because I think they won’t come true if I disclose them. I just don’t want you knowing how delusional I am with my athletic hopes.
And you’re not getting this blog post because I think telling you about my knee niggle will suddenly turn it into a debilitating injury. I just thought this would be an easier and more enjoyable post to write.
